What it is
CANMAKE Mermaid Skin Gel UV is a Japanese sunscreen gel rated SPF50+ PA++++ in a 40g tube. Shade 01 Clear has no tone adjustment. The refreshing, non-tacky gel works as skincare, sunscreen and makeup base in one step, can be used on face and body, and removes with ordinary facial cleanser or body wash.
Why it's different
Works as lotion, sunscreen and makeup base in one, which is why it is often the only step used on a bare-skin day.
Shade 01 is Clear, with no tint or tone adjustment. If you want a brightening finish, 02 White is the tone-up version of the same formula.
Notably non-sticky for a high-SPF gel, and it removes with an ordinary cleanser rather than needing a dedicated remover.

How to use
1. Use after cleansing, either on bare skin or after your usual toner and moisturizer.
2. Take a generous amount and spread thinly and evenly over the face.
3. Use a full sunscreen quantity, not a moisturizer quantity, or the SPF will not be achieved.
4. It can be used on the body as well.
5. Remove with facial cleanser, soap or body wash. If worn under makeup, remove the makeup first.

What is the difference between 01 Clear and 02 White?
Formula and protection are the same. 01 Clear has no tint and leaves skin tone unchanged. 02 White is the tone-up version and gives a brighter, slightly lifted finish. Choose Clear if you want sun protection without altering your tone, or if you are wearing foundation over it.
Can I skip my moisturizer and use only this?
On normal to oily skin, often yes, since it is formulated to work as skincare and sunscreen together. On dry skin it will not be enough on its own. Use your usual toner and moisturizer first and apply this last, which is also how the brand suggests using it if you prefer.
Does it work as a makeup base?
Yes, it is sold as one. Apply it, give it two or three minutes to settle, then apply foundation. It gives a smooth, slightly fresh finish rather than a mattifying one, so on very oily skin you may still want a mattifying primer in the T-zone.
Is 40g enough for regular use?
For face-only daily use it lasts around six to eight weeks if you apply a proper sunscreen quantity. For face and body it will go much faster. If you are using it head to toe regularly, a larger body sunscreen is more economical and this is better kept for the face.

Yes. We offer International Express Mail through Japan Post. The cost is based on order weight and is calculated automatically at checkout.
Will I have to pay customs or import fees?
US orders: No. As of July 1, 2026, all US orders ship DDP (duties delivered prepaid), meaning we prepay all import duties on our end. Nothing is due at your door.
Orders outside the US: Possibly. Duties and import taxes are set by your local customs authority and are not collected at checkout, so any charges on delivery are your responsibility.
