What it is
Hada Labo Gokujyun Foaming Cleanser is a Japanese pump foam cleanser in a 160ml bottle. It dispenses ready-made dense foam carrying three types of hyaluronic acid, and removes everyday makeup without a separate oil cleanse. Fragrance-free, colourant-free, alcohol-free and paraben-free. Use two to three pumps, wash and rinse.

How to use
1. Wet your hands and face.
2. Dispense two to three pumps of foam.
3. Wash gently using the foam, keeping pressure off the skin.
4. Rinse thoroughly with lukewarm water.
Use a dedicated remover for eye makeup. It is not designed for point makeup.

Does it really remove makeup without a first cleanse?
For everyday base makeup and sunscreen, yes. For eye makeup, long-wear lip colour or heavy foundation, use a dedicated remover or an oil cleanser first. Rohto specifically recommends a separate remover for point makeup, which is the honest limit of a foaming cleanser.
Is hyaluronic acid in a cleanser doing anything, given it rinses off?
Partly. Most of it does rinse away, but the skin-adsorbing form is designed to bind to the surface and remain after rinsing, which is why the range includes it. The realistic benefit is that skin feels less tight afterwards, not that you can skip a moisturizer.
Is it gentle enough for sensitive skin?
It is fragrance-free, colourant-free, alcohol-free and paraben-free, which removes the most common irritants from a cleanser. It is still a foaming cleanser though, so on very dry or compromised skin it may be more cleansing than you want. In that case use it in the evening only.
How does it compare to the Gokujyun lotion and gel?
They are three steps of the same range rather than alternatives. This is the cleanse, the Gokujyun Lotion is the hydrating layer that follows, and the Perfect Gel is the moisturizer that seals it. Using them together is the intended routine, but each works on its own.

It's also good value for money and easy to use, and is a face wash that is simply "just right." For its sense of security and ease of use, I'd give it 6 stars!
