What it is
Dr. LuLuLun Retuning Serum Mask is a Japanese sheet mask, five sheets holding 125ml of essence. Left on clean skin for five to ten minutes, its concentrated essence targets firmness, shine, and dullness caused by dryness, on a thin mesh-backed sheet the brand calls a transparent water film.
Why it's different
The essence is built around 5-ALA, an aminolevulinic acid phosphate the brand lists as a conditioning ingredient, alongside phenylethyl resorcinol.
Dr. LuLuLun states it targets type 17 collagen with a peptide complex, aimed at the skin density that tends to fall with age.
The sheet uses a mesh backing you peel away after positioning, so a very thin film presses flat against the face.
How to use
This face mask can be used as special care. For best results, use it once or twice a week. Apply to clean skin after cleansing. Fit the mask to your face, with the side without the mesh sheet facing you, so that the eye and mouth areas fit snugly. Peel off the mesh sheet and press it firmly against your skin. For best results, leave it on for 5 to 10 minutes, then warm it by wrapping it in your palms. Fold the mask, wipe it off, and lightly pat it onto your skin. We recommend applying lotion or cream afterwards.

How often should I use it?

What is the mesh sheet for?
It is a backing that holds the very thin film while you position it. Fit the mask with the non-mesh side against your face, line up the eye and mouth openings, then peel the mesh away and press the film down.
Do I need moisturiser afterwards?
Yes, the brand recommends it. After five to ten minutes, warm the mask by cupping your palms over it, remove it, pat the remaining essence in, then follow with lotion or cream to seal it.
What does 5-ALA actually do?
The manufacturer lists it as a conditioning ingredient and builds the mask around it, pairing it with vitamins and peptides for firmness and clarity. Ingredient claims approved for cosmetics in Japan do not automatically carry over to other markets, so treat this as the brand's positioning.

I bought it because I was attracted by the name "Dr. Lululun," which sounds like it would be effective. The pack has a mesh on it, so it's easy to keep in place. The pack is average. I guess it's a pack that's sold everywhere...
I didn't know Lululun had a series like this. Purple is my favorite, but I bought it hoping this would surpass it! It's a thick liquid, but it doesn't feel slippery and penetrates well. I used it at night, and my skin still felt plump and supple in the morning. Personally, I like the refreshing purple liquid because it's easy to use all year round, so I'll probably end up reaching for the purple one. The Doctor has a special feel, so I'd like to combine it with the Doctor when my skin is particularly dry and dull. Even so, I think it's amazing how moisturizing it is for such a low price.
