I received this as a test. Thank you. First of all, the scent isn't that strong. I didn't really notice it while washing or drying. The shampoo feels heavy. It lathers well, so I recommend lathering it up thoroughly before using. As the name "barrier" suggests, it does create a barrier...or rather, a coating. It's also moisturizing, so it doesn't make my hair feel frizzy....However, this is purely my personal opinion, but it feels like it protects the outside but doesn't penetrate deep into the hair. I can't really explain it, but it left my hair feeling dry and brittle...Adding another treatment made it feel better, so honestly, these two products alone weren't enough. I think it might be enough for someone with young, beautiful hair. It's not bad, but I wouldn't buy it again. It's disappointing.

It lathers well, and while the foam is fine, it's a little coarse. I didn't have any problems with the lather lasting. Kao's shampoos, starting with THE ANSWER, have recently been formulated to be more refreshing, so the finish itself seems to depend on the conditioner and treatment. It's not too heavy and feels light, but I think it's the type of conditioner that gives hair a nice, manageable feel (since it's a conditioner, I think the finish is light). The scent is a strong continuation of the classic Essential scent. I think this is another versatile shampoo and conditioner. I think the formula was adjusted with the intention that the lack of manageability would be compensated for with an after-bath wash.
