What it is
Biore UV Aqua Rich Watery Essence is a Japanese facial sunscreen rated SPF50+ PA++++ in a 70g tube. The texture sits between water and serum, spreading across the face in seconds and absorbing with no white cast, no shine and no tackiness. It works under makeup as a light primer and removes with a regular facial cleanser.

How to use
1. Apply after your moisturizer has fully absorbed.
2. Squeeze out roughly a pearl-sized amount for the face and neck.
3. Spread quickly. The texture is thin and sets fast, so blend before it does.
4. Apply at least fifteen minutes before sun exposure.
5. Reapply every two to three hours outdoors.
6. Remove at the end of the day with your regular facial cleanser.

Should I get this or the Watery Gel?
Both are SPF50+ PA++++ from the same range. Take the Essence if it is mainly for your face and you wear makeup over it, since it is thinner and leaves less on the surface. Take the Gel if you want one product for face and body, since it spreads further and is sold for both.
Is it enough sunscreen for a day at the beach?
It is rated SPF50+ PA++++, so the protection is there, but it is formulated as a daily facial sunscreen rather than a water sport product. For extended swimming or beach exposure, a dedicated water-resistant sunscreen such as ANESSA holds up better. For commuting, office days and errands, this is more than sufficient.
Why does it need fifteen minutes before sun exposure?
Chemical UV filters work by absorbing UV radiation, and they need to form an even film on the skin to do it. That film takes roughly fifteen minutes to set. Applying and stepping straight outside means part of the protection has not yet formed.
Does it pill under makeup?
It should not, but pilling is the most common complaint and it is almost always an application issue. Let your moisturizer absorb fully first, apply the sunscreen in one pass without rubbing back over it, and wait two or three minutes before foundation. Layering it over a silicone-heavy primer is the other usual culprit.
