It gives off a silvery, shiny look. It's not a wet-shine look. It's also a little hard to spread, but I think it suits some people, and it's good in that it doesn't get your hands dirty.
This non-pearl highlighter stick gives a natural, dewy look and a glossy finish. Personally, it's pretty close to my ideal finish, and after reading the reviews, I was so glad I chose this one! I own several powder and liquid highlighters, but sometimes they feel dry or the overly shimmery or pearly effects are unnecessary. I was searching for something that would add a dewy glow without the pearly or shimmery effects on days when I've finished my base makeup with a more matte finish. The famous CHANEL and the more affordable Hince also offer non-pearl highlighters, but I avoided them because I didn't like the greasy or sticky feel they offered after trying the tester or reading the reviews. This one has a light, sticky feel, but isn't greasy or sticky, making it easy to use! If you apply it directly, it will peel off your base makeup, so I dabbed it on and then blended it, or I took a little on my finger and applied it to create a natural, unobtrusive glow. If you want a more glossy or dewy look, CHANEL seems like a better choice. It can also be used for moisturizing, and when I apply it to the dry fine lines around my eyes in the C-zone when I touch up, it gives a nice glow. However, since it's a balm, it feels a little heavy, so I end up using the IPSA serum stick as usual for areas other than the eye area. I've heard it can also be used as an eyeshadow base, so I'd like to try that next time!
Powder highlighters sometimes accentuate fine lines and wrinkles due to age and feel a bit powdery, so I thought a balm might work, so I bought one from my favorite brand. I couldn't decide between the glow type (bottom photos 1 and 2, right photo 3) and the pearl type (top photos 1 and 2, left photo 3), so I bought both. This glow type has a natural, dewy sheen without being overly obvious, so it was just the right amount of shine for me, who wants to avoid an overly sparkly look. In the photos, both types are applied to the same area, but while the pearl type (top photos 1 and 2) sparkles consistently across the entire area, even when applied from different angles, the glow type (bottom photos 1 and 2) reflects differently depending on the angle of the light. Both types have only been applied and not blended, so they glow more naturally once blended. The glow type is more moisturizing, so I would definitely choose it for use around the eyes, where dryness is a concern and fine lines can become more noticeable over time. However, since I'm quite clumsy, I had to be careful not to smudge the moisturizing product when applying it. I haven't used highlighters much up until now, but it's been fun to try out different ways to use them that suit my preferences and age, and I've found a lot of products that interest me, so I'm looking forward to using them properly and having fun.
I bought this to add a glow to my face. It's great! I like that it gives a natural glow without any pearly feel. I felt like pearls, glitter, or shiny looks didn't really suit my face, so I searched for something better and found this. I wanted a moisturized look on my face, so I chose a stick type instead of a powder. It might not be enough when you want a full, heavy makeup look, but for everyday use, it's just right.
Since my skin gets dry in the winter, I was looking for a cream type rather than a powder, so I bought this. It was different from what I expected, it felt more like a applied product than a highlighter, which was not what I was looking for.
