What it is
DHC Medicated Deep Cleansing Oil is a Japanese cleansing oil in a 200ml pump bottle. Built on olive virgin oil with rosemary extract, it dissolves makeup, sunscreen and sebum when massaged onto dry skin, then emulsifies with water and rinses away. Use around three pumps as the first step of an evening routine.
Why it's different
Olive virgin oil as the base rather than mineral oil, which is why it rinses without the squeaky, stripped finish typical of cheaper cleansing oils.
Emulsifies cleanly with water, so for most people it removes makeup and sunscreen without a second foaming cleanse.
The 200ml is the mid size. It is the better value per millilitre than the 70ml travel bottle and less of a commitment than the 470ml.
How to use
1. Start with completely dry hands and a dry face. Water stops the oil from binding to makeup.
2. Dispense about three pumps into your palm.
3. Massage over the face for around thirty seconds, working over eye and lip makeup last.
4. Add a little lukewarm water and keep massaging until the texture turns milky.
5. Rinse thoroughly with lukewarm water. Remove the pump stopper before first use.

Do I need a second cleanser after it?
Usually not. It emulsifies and rinses cleanly, so for everyday makeup and sunscreen it works as a single cleanse. If you wear heavy base makeup, waterproof mascara or long-wear lip products, follow with a gentle foaming cleanser. If your skin feels filmy afterwards, that is a sign of under-rinsing rather than a need for a second cleanser.
Will an oil cleanser break me out?
Olive-based cleansing oils are generally well tolerated because the oil is rinsed off rather than left on the skin. Breakouts after oil cleansing are most often caused by insufficient emulsifying and rinsing, which leaves residue behind. Massage until the texture goes milky and rinse until the skin no longer feels slippery.
Can I use it to remove eye makeup?
Yes, including most waterproof mascara. Close your eyes, massage gently over the lash line, and give it a few seconds to dissolve before emulsifying. Avoid getting it directly into the eye. If you wear lash extensions, check with your technician, as oil cleansers can weaken some adhesives.
Which size should I buy?
The 200ml suits one person using it nightly for roughly four to five months. The 70ml is for travel or testing, and the 470ml is the best value if you already know the formula works for you. The formula is identical across all three.
