What it is
Hada Labo Gokujyun UV White Gel is a Japanese all-in-one morning gel in a 90g jar, rated SPF50. It combines hyaluronic acid hydration, brightening care and daily UV protection in a single step, so it stands in for toner, emulsion, cream and sunscreen. Apply to clean skin as the last morning step.

One step instead of four. It is formulated as toner, emulsion, cream and sunscreen in a single gel, which is why it sits in the all-in-one category rather than with sunscreens.
SPF50 in a gel-cream texture rather than a sunscreen texture, so it wears more like a moisturizer than a UV product.
Because it is a hybrid, the sunscreen application rule still applies. Use a full sunscreen quantity, not a moisturizer quantity, or the SPF figure will not hold.
How to use
1. Use as the final step of your morning routine, on clean skin.
2. Take a generous amount, roughly a large pea for the face, and smooth over face and neck.
3. Apply enough to meet a sunscreen quantity, not a moisturizer quantity, or the SPF will not be achieved.
4. Reapply during extended sun exposure.

Does it really replace my whole morning routine?
It is formulated to replace toner, emulsion, cream and sunscreen, and for normal to combination skin on an ordinary day it does. If your skin is very dry, or you use targeted actives like vitamin C or niacinamide serums, treat this as the moisturizer and sunscreen step rather than the entire routine and keep your serum underneath.
How much do I need to apply for the SPF50 to be real?
Considerably more than you would use of a moisturizer. Sun protection factors are measured at a set quantity per area of skin, and most people apply well under it. Use roughly a large pea for the face and neck, and build it in two layers if that feels like a lot at once.
Is this a sunscreen or a moisturizer?
Both, which is the point, but it means the trade-offs of each apply. It is lighter and more pleasant than most SPF50 sunscreens, and less protective in practice than a dedicated sunscreen applied properly, simply because people under-apply moisturizer-textured products. For a beach day, use a dedicated sunscreen.
Can I use it at night?
There is no reason to. It contains UV filters that do nothing after dark and add no benefit to an evening routine. Use a night moisturizer instead and keep this for mornings.
