What it is
A mild shampoo that gently washes dry, sensitive hair and scalp. The unique skin barrier ingredients maintain the barrier function that tends to decrease during washing, suppress dandruff and itching caused by dryness, and care for damage. I bought this for a family member who suffers from dry, peeling scalps in the winter. I tried it myself. It doesn't lather well, but since not rinsing enough is probably the worst thing for the scalp, it's good that it doesn't lather up no matter how long you rinse. It doesn't leave a particularly rough feeling after washing, so it's fine. (It doesn't leave a smooth feeling, though...) However, the packaging and scent don't really excite me... I think it's only good for when you want a shampoo that's not bad for your skin. Incidentally, it seems to have improved my family's skin a little, though not completely.
A family in Japan gave me this as a gift, concerned about their child's seborrheic dermatitis. FDR, a Fancl line, is specifically designed for atopic dermatitis and sensitive skin, so I felt comfortable using it. Fortunately, my child's seborrheic dermatitis has improved significantly recently, with almost no symptoms. This shampoo thoroughly removes dirt without stripping away too much oil. Perhaps this shampoo is responsible for my child's healthy scalp. After reading reviews, I tried it myself. I found the mild, non-irritating formula to be a great choice. The lack of fragrance didn't bother me. If I use a conditioner later, that contains fragrance. After applying a full conditioner the day before, I had to pump the shampoo several times to create a lather. However, since my child is my primary caregiver, it didn't bother me at all. I'm grateful for the wonderful product they sent me.
I was looking for a fragrance-free shampoo and finally found this one. Naturally, it has no scent, and I don't particularly enjoy washing with it, but when I come home after a day and shampoo, my hair feels less sticky when I pre-wash, and my hair and scalp feel healthier. It's probably gentle on the hair because it doesn't contain any unnecessary ingredients. It's worth buying, but considering my financial situation, continuing to purchase it isn't a high priority.
I have atopic scalp and have been using various shampoos for sensitive skin. So far, I've found that 2e is relatively non-itchy. This shampoo is smoother than 2e, but it still causes some itching. I'm hoping to find a shampoo that doesn't cause itching soon.
Looking at the shampoo's full ingredient list, I see that it contains no strong cleansing ingredients like glycine or sarcosine. It certainly has a mild cleansing power. However, the foaming is unreliable. Focusing on foaming inevitably leads to strong cleansing power, so it's inevitable if you prioritize gentleness. It doesn't create a fluffy lather, but it glides smoothly through my hair, preventing it from being pulled or tangled while shampooing. It also contains a moderate amount of moisturizer, which is nice. However, using this shampoo every day might cause itching from residual sebum. It would be best to follow up with a regular amino acid shampoo with a bit more cleansing power about twice a week. I found this shampoo to be milder than Minon shampoo. Minon cleanses the scalp just right, but I've always found it drying on my hair. I've always wanted to use this Fancl product, but the shelf life after opening is short. Since I wouldn't be able to use it all before the expiration date and it would go to waste, I stopped buying it. I found a shampoo (Hahoniko Keratex Shampoo) that has just as gentle a cleansing power as this Fancl shampoo, so I switched to that one.
