What it is
Cleansing is the first nighttime step that will lead to "skin that exceeds your dreams." This milk-type cleanser removes makeup with minimal strain on the skin while maintaining moisture, and can be used with wet hands. Formulated with plant oils that have a composition similar to human sebum, it blends well with the skin and gently lifts makeup. In addition, hectorite, a natural clay, firmly absorbs dead skin cells. The unique beauty ingredient "KaESS" is also included for added skincare benefits. Will I pay customs or import fees?
US orders: No. As of July 1, 2026, all US orders ship DDP (duties delivered prepaid), meaning we prepay all import duties on our end. Nothing is due at your door.
Orders outside the US: Possibly. Duties and import taxes are set by your local customs authority and are not collected at checkout, so any charges on delivery are your responsibility.

I bought it at "Makanai Cosmetics" in Kagurazaka. It's a bit pricey, but it's very moisturizing. It's very good. It also has a gentle scent. There aren't many locations so it's hard to go there easily, so I'll buy it again when I have time.
MAKANAI's Purifying Cleanser: A Gentle, Soothing Cleanser. Recently, I've been using a cleansing oil that's rumored to remove blackheads. However, I was so excited about the cleansing oil that I ended up scrubbing my skin excessively, leaving it red and vulnerable. Since I love natural cosmetics, I wondered if a cleanser with less powerful cleansing power would be okay. So, I searched my favorite Cosme Kitchen for a cleanser, and I found this one! I was attracted by the unusual name "Pure Cleansing" and its "tranquil scent," so I bought it to try. It's incredibly convenient, and can be used with both wet and dry hands! This was an unexpected benefit. The gentle scent and texture are soothing. It feels like a lotion when you dispense it into your hands. I slowly work it into my skin. It spreads better than it looks, and I'm afraid of friction, so I use a generous amount, but a small amount should probably be fine. I usually use a point remover for my eye makeup and lipstick, so I don't know how well it removes those, but it does remove makeup from other areas! It's gentle yet has a satisfying cleansing power. After cleansing, it feels like some of the product remains on the skin (it might just be my imagination), so I recommend washing your face thoroughly. There are other cleansers I'd like to try, but this one is one I'd like to come back to someday!
