What is the difference between the Light and Standard versions?
Light gives a natural shine and soft, airy hold, good for movement, fringe, and loose styles. Standard gives richer shine and a more defined hold for firm curls and sleek looks. Both are used before heat.
Do I apply it before or after using a straightener?
Before. Work it through the mid-lengths and ends first, then apply heat. The oil is designed to use the heat of the iron to help set and hold the style.
Will an oil before heat damage my hair?
This oil is made specifically for pre-iron use, unlike finishing oils that are not meant for direct high heat. Use a thin, even layer and keep your tool at a sensible temperature.
How does it hold curls compared to hairspray?
It sets the style from within as you apply heat, giving a softer, more natural hold and shine than a surface spray. You can still finish with spray if you want extra hold.

On orders under US$75, shipping is a flat US$20 to the United States and US$10 to all other countries.

How long does international shipping take?
These estimates are for International Airmail (Tracked) and include 3 to 5 business days of processing in Japan. As of 22 July 2026:
- United States: 12 to 15 business days
- Canada, United Kingdom, France, Germany: 9 to 12 business days
- Australia, New Zealand, Denmark, Finland, India, Indonesia, Italy, Netherlands, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland: 10 to 13 business days

Do you offer express shipping?
Yes. We offer International Express Mail through Japan Post. The cost is based on order weight and is calculated automatically at checkout.
Will I have to pay customs or import fees?
US orders: No. As of July 1, 2026, all US orders ship DDP (duties delivered prepaid), meaning we prepay all import duties on our end. Nothing is due at your door.
Orders outside the US: Possibly. Duties and import taxes are set by your local customs authority and are not collected at checkout, so any charges on delivery are your responsibility.

It's amazing how it moisturizes and manages without weighing down your hair. Its ability to hold curls in place is particularly impressive, and applying a small amount at the end of the day adds shine and keeps curls in place. The scent is also elegant, making me feel good every time I use it. However, the price is a little high, so I hesitate to repurchase.
I've been buying this product for the past 3-4 years! I tried the light version for the first time, and it was perfect for my fine hair! It doesn't feel sticky or heavy, and the curls don't come off easily, so it's great! If I had to say something, it's the oily smell that bothers me.
It had a nice scent! I have soft, normal-length, straight hair, so I didn't notice much hold after ironing.
It has a subtle scent. I love ReFa Rock Oil because it keeps the finish of my hair iron in place.
Before curling my long hair with the iron, I pumped two pumps of oil into the ends of my hair to let it soak in. Because it was an oil lock, the curls stayed soft and fluffy all day long!
