I wanted to try a foundation that costs over ¥10,000, so I started with Guerlain. I chose the 1.5N shade, but it was a little dark for my skin tone this time of year. In the summer, this shade might be fine. I use Double Wear at work, and this shade offers more coverage than Double Wear, concealing all my imperfections. No concealer is needed. Like Double Wear, this foundation adheres quickly, so applying it to each area and finishing with a single layer creates a beautiful application. It gives a heavy, makeup-filled look, so I don't think it's for those who value a natural, natural look or who prefer a lighter look. As for the color, I found it to be darker and more orange than Double Wear's Ecru shade. It's lighter than Sand. I really liked the feel, so I'm debating whether to buy more 0N and mix it in, or save 1.5N for spring and repurchase 1N.
It has good coverage and is resistant to smudging. This is my go-to for summer.
I'm a Guerlain fan! I couldn't find a lighter shade that suited me in Japan, so I bought the OC shade overseas. I personally prefer matte shades, so when I want my skin to look beautiful or when I want my foundation to last for a long time, this is my only choice!!!
Recently, when I switched to Guerlain for my primer, I also purchased a foundation. I actually had them touch up my makeup and help me choose the color, and the Terracotta series blends in better, while this Parure Gold gives a toned-up look to bare skin. One pump felt like a lot, so half a pump or a third of a pump is just right. It spreads really well and blends beautifully, so I recommend layering it up a little at a time. I often don't touch up my makeup for half a day when I'm out for a short time, but it's not shiny or dry and looks great. I haven't been able to use it at work yet because I feel it's a waste, but I'll post a comparison later.
I was torn between the matte and glossy shades, but I ended up buying the matte shade. If you're still deciding between matte and glossy shades, this might be helpful. I tried applying both the matte and glossy shades to half of my face in the middle of summer. There wasn't much difference in the finish immediately after application. The glossy shade offers more coverage than the other glossy shades. The matte shade isn't completely matte, and changing the angle of your face creates a beautiful glow, almost like it's glowing from within. However, since it was mid-summer, the glossy shade ended up looking a bit shiny by the evening. However, it adhered well and didn't come off, so I think the glossy shade won't be a problem if you touch it up with powder mid-application. In that respect, the matte shade doesn't look shiny, which is a plus. I've always used balm-type blushes and highlighters, and I prefer a matte base and then add a bit of shine with blush or highlighter later, which is why I bought the matte shade. I've been using the matte shade for about six months, and since my cheeks tend to get a little drier in the winter, I use a lighter face powder. By adjusting the powder, I had no problems with the matte shade, even during the dry seasons. I thought the Guerlain foundation brush was a bit pricey, so I use a Shu Uemura brush. I apply it quickly, using about half a pump of foundation at a time, on one half of my face at a time. It adheres very quickly... If I don't apply it quickly, it hardens and adheres to my skin, and trying to spread it later will result in a messy, uneven look. If that happens, it's probably best to just remove it and start over. But on the flip side, it adheres incredibly well and doesn't come off. I also use Lancôme foundation, which is known for its long-lasting properties, but this has an even firmer texture and adheres better. There aren't many similar foundations out there, so I think it's a pretty unique product, but that's actually why I like using it.
