I love this brush! I use it to apply the main color to my eyelids, but I think it's especially good for applying eyeshadow with a glossy finish. It delivers a strong color and adheres well, so I love it.
This is a stiff brush like a concealer brush, suitable for cream eyeshadow. It's not too hard, so it's easy to use around the eyes, but as someone who values softness in brushes, I honestly wish it was a little softer. I bought it to apply cream eyeshadow, and honestly, it applies beautifully whether you apply it with your fingers or with this brush. So, I ended up using it more often to apply eyeshadow (cream or powder) to the crease of my eyes than cream eyeshadow. It's just a regular brush, so it's fine even if it's not specifically for this.
For MAC cream shadow. I purchased it for about 2,000 yen because I was purchasing it on behalf of someone overseas. The domestic retail price is 4,200 yen. (From the official website) It's a flat brush made of a mix of natural and synthetic bristles, making it easy to use for thinly applying cream shadow as a base. Unlike concealer brushes, which are often made of 100% synthetic bristles, it is soft. Since I use it exclusively for cream shadow, I'm honestly hesitant to pay the domestic retail price, but if you can purchase it overseas, I think it's a good value for money product (*´∀`*)
I bought this at a MAC store in Las Vegas. It was $24.50 plus tax (8.1%). I bought it to use with Shu cream shadows. MAC brushes work really well with those hard shadows. It's about half the size of the Large Shader Brush, so it's a little more maneuverable. That said, it's still a flat brush that applies to the entire eyelid, so it's difficult to, for example, apply it to the double eyelid with the tip. I bought it, but I never got to use it. (^-^; When I went to buy it, I thought it would be convenient if they had large, medium, and small sizes. In reality, I use the large brush to apply it to the entire eyelid and the small brush (which they don't have, so I use a lip brush instead) to apply it to the double eyelid. With cream shadows other than Shu, I sometimes apply it a little beyond the double eyelid, but when it comes to tube-type products, Shu's 5R is easier to apply than this one....I made the mistake of buying it without thinking about the situation I'd actually use it in (lol). There's nothing wrong with the brush. If I lose my Large Shader Brush, I'll probably rely on this one, so I'll give it four stars.
I bought this to use as a cream shadow. It's great because it applies thinly and evenly. I think it would also work well as a concealer.
