Neal’s Yard Remedies Peppermint Oil, 10ml

It's the same peppermint scent you often find in gum and ice cream, but it has a stronger scent.

I bought essential oil for the first time. I was getting henna and it smelled like grass, so I wanted to add some fragrance, so I went to LOFT. I smelled a few and bought peppermint. I wonder if scent preferences change depending on your physical condition or mood at the time? For me, it was a perfect match with henna. It has a slightly sweet taste, like candy. I'd like to try other scents too. I'd like to try lavender or rosemary, which have an aroma-inducing feel (lol).

I bought peppermint. It has a clean, refreshing fragrance and isn't too expensive. I went to the store looking for a refreshing essential oil to help me get through this humid rainy season. The store staff were very helpful and offered advice in-store, suggesting the perfect oil for my needs. (^^) It goes well with both lemongrass and peppermint. If I'm looking for other essential oils, this is a brand I'll keep checking back for.

Recently, I've been having trouble with mosquitoes sneaking in when I open and close windows and doors, so I bought some peppermint oil to keep them away. A few days ago, right after I went to bed, I noticed a mosquito buzzing around my face, coming closer and then moving away a little, but I was so sleepy I couldn't even decide to get up, and I was so worried about getting bitten that I couldn't sleep... (´っω･*)... Since this wasn't going anywhere, I decided to just open my eyes a little and spotted this essential oil I'd just purchased from Suzykirei, 20cm from my face. I didn't want to use a diffuser, or even drip it onto a tissue, so I just opened the cap, put it back in place, and went to bed. This made it extremely difficult for me to sleep. A strong, tingly sensation continued from my nose to the top of my head. I wondered if I could endure it until morning, and whether I would be able to fall asleep. I closed my eyes and waited for a while... but contrary to my expectations, the sound of their wings immediately stopped. I felt relieved, and was overcome by a sleepiness so intense that I didn't even notice the strong scent. Before I knew it, I was fast asleep. When morning came, I expected to be stung around my feet, but I hadn't been bitten all over my body. At the beginning of the night, when I watered outdoors, I usually get stung in a few places, but after spraying a generous amount of diluted spray on my skin just before, I was completely stung. Since I only needed a few drops per 100ml of purified water, the scent on my body was weak, but if I lightly patted my hands with a towel after coming home, the scent gradually faded. (The spray is filled with the fragrance, so it keeps the tingle. =3) It's not viscous and smooth, so it doesn't stay on the skin and doesn't last long, which isn't a concern, but peppermint can be harsh on the skin when applied, so just to be safe, I wash it off with hand or body soap no later than bedtime. Peppermint is not really my favorite scent, so this was my first purchase and I didn't compare brands, but honestly, I wasn't expecting it to be so effective, so I was surprised. There are many commercially available insect repellents containing peppermint oil that aim to repel mosquitoes, but this one avoids unnecessary additives and is less harsh on the skin than the ones that are mixed with jojoba oil and applied. So far, this homemade spray is my best. I bought the larger 10ml version, so I'll experiment with the blend and use it to repel mosquitoes again next year. ^^

I love this product and it's great for room fragrance.
